Title: Cook

Reports to: Dining Services Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor

Supervises: Self

Position Summary: Prepare food items in accordance with company standards. Assist with meeting or exceeding resident dining expectations. Other relevant duties as may be required or assigned by management.

• To prepare/cook/present complete meals in order to satisfy menu guidelines
• To ensure quality food at all times
• Keep area clean/maintain cleanliness and sanitation
• Set up and break down all equipment used
• Meet specific cook times/accurate recipes and presentations
• Attendance at, and participation in, meetings and training

• Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, and comprehend same.
• Must be flexible enough to adjust to the needs of the residents.
• Knowledge of or ability to learn food preparation and presentation.
• Ability to work effectively with immediate supervisor
• Ability to work in harmony with co-workers. Must display team behaviors.
• Able to focus on multiple tasks simultaneously
• Safe work practices.
• Knowledge of and compliance with CSQ requirements.

• Able to communicate/mobility/vision/reading/hearing/manual dexterity

• Walking (20%)
• Lifting and carrying (40 lbs.) or more
• Frequent pushing and pulling/occasional stooping/bending/crouching
• Equipment use: walk-in and reach-in coolers / steam tables / mixers / tongs / knives / spatulas / plates / griddles / ovens / broilers / microwave / ladles / measuring utensils.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience: At least one year of kitchen related experience.
• Education: High School or GED.
• General: Must present a neat, clean appearance and demonstrate a positive, cheerful attitude.
